drowning...

I am running on empty

I am so tired as I type this my eyes are heavy and wanting to close so bad!

I've been helping my friend get ready for her daughter's first birthday party and I've had late nights every day this week since Monday.
But I cannot wait to see it all put together tonight.
I will no doubt have a ton of amazing pictures.
Not that my picture taking skills rock but that she pays attention to every last detail, no matter how extravagant. Remember the sunfower baby shower?
Yea that one.

I still have some Christmas shopping to do, my spare room looks like a tornado hit and I wanted to spend time with my dear friend Charity before she leaves me and moves to Kansas City, on MONDAY!!! (sob, sob, sob)

Saturday night is the annual Waimea Lights Parade and I really want to take my son, we've been going since his first Christmas!

I love the look of amazement in this photo.

Have a great weekend guys, I'll be back with lots of photos!

Birthday Party Sweets and Treats

I never got a chance to share my son's 2nd bday party.
There were tons of pix, none all that great. But I want to show you a bit of the desserts.

Everything was super simple and casual. We did it right in our garage and had some family and close friends over.
We had a BBQ just hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and salad.

I made the pennants and the paper garland with my cricut!

Sweet Treats hung over the dessert table and I just love the paper garland. I will never buy streamers again! ever!

I made candy dipped oreos with sprinkles.
Not a big a hit as I thought they would be.

Infact these were the big sellers!
I was surprized that the wheat pretzles were the big hit.

I had originally intended to candy coat the marshmallows as well or chocolate dip them, but I never got that far... exhaustion kicked in and I went to bed. So instead I left them out plain and we had the grill next to the table incase the kids wanted to roast them. None of that happend as well and the kids ate them plain.
Kids surprize me sometimes.

And now for my hugest accomplishment, the cake.

It wasnt perfect, it wasnt even, but it was super cute and a huge hit!! So totally worth the little bit of extra effort.

And those were some of the sweets for my baby's 2nd bday... not a baby anymore.
Time sure does fly by doesnt it.

I'm linking to the parties {HERE}

Sunflower Baby Shower

I have been meaning to share this party with you all for eh some months now.

Now I cannot take any credit for this party.
(except helping to set up and clean up)

My friend is
1) an absolute lover of sunflowers (you'll see)
and
 2) absolutely talented when it comes to throwing a party
She doesnt leave out not one detail.

This is her own baby shower, so cute and sunshining and elegant at the same time.

Chairs were covered and wrapped with bows and sunflowers.

The guessing games were even adorned with sunflowers and their colors.

Who has their own sunflower tiki bar at a shower....

She does!

Not a single detail was left out.

These are adorable centerpieces.

Even the dessert bar had sunflower gingerbread cookies

And sunflower cupcakes

Once again she put on a beautiful party.
And she welcomed her daughter into this world the day before my birthday 12/11

Pull off a bridal shower in 2 days?.... yes its possable

So with only little over a week before the wedding and majority of the brial party coming in from off island 2 days before the wedding, one of my girlfriends still didnt have a bridal shower. Was it possable for me and her sister in law to pull off a bridal shower in two days? Yes, it actually was!
We had limited funds and time, how would we do it?

Well her sister in law called the family. Told them we'd be doing a small shower at the bride's home and to please bring their favorite dish with the recepie card to go with it. We never imagined what an amazing spread we'd end up with!

*note* i just realized this pix is upside down!

yes! i had to make the cake pops from bakerella

basket full of recepie cards! I'll have to borrow some later all the food was delish!!

her mother in law, sister in law and I all offered to bring different drinks and just look! we all had the same juice jugs! It looked soooo cute everyone kept saying how nice they were! LOL! I think they were the hit of the party.

pulled together some really quick decorations like those Martha Stewart pom poms

SUCCESS! It wasnt the most lavish party but we pulled it off, had amazing food and a great time!
What party have you pulled off in 2 days?

Backyard BBQ Birthday for Brian

Ok thats strange BBBB... hahaha.... anyways, soooo many good posts today from all the blogs that I follow that it has inspired me to throw my husband a Backyard BBQ Birthday Party.
(and yes his name is Brian)

Attention to Detail shared this really cute BBQ apron party invite that started it all.

It's totally cute and a great diy project. For directions visit

They have other great diy favors all FREE to download.

Brian has been talking about making BBQ pulled pork ever since I made my first roast in my crockpot so I know he'll love the menu ideas. I got the inspiration for this at
PartyBlueprints Blog on their make ahead menu for memorial day.

Yummy pulled pork sandwiches, slaw, corn and bean salad and biscuts. I think I'll have to also try Amanda's from Kevin & Amanda Ultimate Bakes Beans or otherwise affectionately known as Manly beans.

And I just couldnt forget dessert. Party Box Design showed off these really cute cupcake cups from etsy that I just thought would match perfectly with the theme.

I bought these in red from Cupcake Confessional's etsy store

PJ Party

Yes, my friends and I had a PJ Dinner Party! Sounds totally cheesy, but it was great! We were all so comfortable and relaxed and best part, when we got home, all we had to do was brush our teeth and jump into bed!
But, because of the PJ's I promised not to post any pix of us on the internet. I did however have to share with you our dessert. One of my faves and soooo easy to pick up on the way to dinner at a friend's house.
This was our BIG secret and I am sharing it with you all. It may sound strange but it is OOOHHH SOOO Good!
First you need strawberries...
Then you dip them in sour cream, yes SOUR CREAM, not cream cheese!

Then roll it in brown sugar...

Like this...

This is what it should look like just before you devour it...
(yea my hubby had to get his beer in the pix)

And of course a little wine too. This is a great under $10 wine, infact its only $6.99

My son loves strawberries, sans the sugar of course.

See his happy face :-)

So, I have decided that nice evenings in with friends are my new fave thing! Thanks guys for another great evening!!! XOXOXO ♥
