NightOwlCrafting

Here are this week's questions!

spinach, broccoli, salads, zuchini

2. Do you decorate for St. Patrick's Day?
nope, never did

3. Do you have Irish in you?
I sure do!

In my younger days we would go out and have some irish car bombs, someone would always make corned beef and cabbage and then we started mixing up our own drinks anything that would be green. Now, the party days are way behind us and we dont do anything. Maybe this year I'll make some green eggs and spam for dinner.

hmmm this is a tough one..
L - LOVE
U - UNIQUE
C - CARING
K - KOOKY

{Aloha} Flashback Friday....

Whew! It's Friday and we survived another week!
You would think Friday is my fav day of the week but it's tomorrow since we get to sleep long enough to get up when its lighted instead of still dark outside AND I get to spend the day with my fav boys :-)

Well.... to celebrate Aloha Friday I'm going to do a few things.
I just love how Marie over at The Things We Find Inside
has a flash back to the 80's Fridays. I just LOOOOVE the 80's. Listening to the music totally brings back memories of watching night tracks! Do any of you remember night tracks?

I used to hold my stereo up against the speaker of the tv and record the music onto cassettes and make mixed tapes! Haha Love it!
Our poor children will never know what thats like, you know I dont even have an Ipod. I refuse, Im stuck in the 80's!

Anyway... so here is my flash back song for today

And if that aint great enough...

More Than Words has a totally Rad (notice the 80's word hehe) Friday Photo Flashback linky party.

Friday Photo Flashback

How fun is it going through old photos.. pre digital camera days.
So here's my photo

I honestly dont even remember the year, it must have been around 1987.
Thats me and my cousin Jon at the Honolulu Zoo.
How's my hair? LOL!

And for the GRAND FINALE...
Since it's Aloha Friday how about a cocktail!

Last night we had a Hoe Down brainstorm meeting and we have been having little ice breakers to start the meeting. If you dont know what Hoe Down for Hope is you can find out a little {here}.Last night's topic was 'what's your fav high ball?'
There was a theme of vodka and martini's going on... lemon drop martini, dirty martini, cosmos, lychee martini.... and one of the women shared a new drink she was introduced to.
It's Coffee Patron. Have you heard of it yet?

She suggested serving it chilled in a martini glass.
Sounds yummy and warm and cozy, especially with these chilly nights weve been having.
Personally I try to stay away from Tequila (Tequila makes her clothes fall off - Just Kidding!!!) I do love my Passion Fruit Margaritas.

Cheers to everyone on this Aloha Friday.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Aloha Friday... Time for a cocktail...

Actually this weekend is too busy to sit back and unwind with a cocktial. Ive got rehersal for the wedding tomorrow at 5:30 pm and of course helping with the last minute items.

Buuuutt... next weekend I have already scheduled much needed girl friend time that includes...
BASIL MOJITOS!!!

Doesnt that just scream cool, clean and refreshing on a hot summer day?! Can't you just imagine sitting on your porch sipping this? Well, Im sooooo looking forward to it next weekend let me tell you!

My garden is going off with sweet basil and mint
(i got the mint as a tiny lil plant at a garage sale for 25 cents - best investment ever!)
Mint is a more versatile plant than I ever imagined, did you know you can use mint to keep ants
away naturally? (I hate ants with a passion!)

Anyway, Im getting off track here, so here is my receipe:

First of all you should make your own simple syrup, its simple just like the name says.
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
in a sauce pan boil water and sugar and simmer until its dissolved. Set aside to cool.
Simple right? Told you!

Ok on to the mojito.

In a glass put maybe 5 leaves of basil and 2 leaves of mint.
You can add about 1-2 tsp of lime into the glass and
Muddle for a little bit, do a little dance, make a little love...sorry
Then add about 3 tbs of your simple syrup (more if you like it sweeter)
a shot of light rum of your choice
and fill the rest with soda water and ice.

It already looks pretty but you can add a slice of lime to pretty it up even more.

Now grab your glass, your girlfriend and a chair on the porch and ENJOY!
Thats what I'll be doing next weekend :-)

Aloha Friday!

thIt's Aloha Friday! Yay! It's been another long week.
I just saw this pretty and inviting cocktail at swankytablesblog.com and it just hypnotized me!
Having a Hawaiian or Luau themed wedding? How about a signature cocktail. Signature cocktails are a nice touch to your wedding AND a great way to keep alcohol costs down. Choose one cocktail and serve just that with maybe a wine or a beer. That way you arent having to buy a ton of different alcohol and you dont need experienced bartenders either. And one more note, you dont need a bunch of sloppy drunk guests either!

1 bottle of raspberry rum
1 3/4 cups coconut run
1 cup amaretto
stir together and serve!
DONT FORGET TO DRINK RESPONSIBLY!
