Holiday Party at the Grand Hyatt Kauai

The past two years we have been very fortunate to have our Company Christmas Party at the Grand Hyatt Kauai. The Hyatt is so pretty, I worked there for over 5 years I think when I first got married. I even worked at Tidepools, the restaurant where we had our dinner. I love their food and I love their staff, they are the bestest!

We had a large party so we had to have a preset menu. I worked with their manager and they were so accommodating, I was so excited to just EAT!!

Please don’t mind the junk phone pix… hope I can still make you drool!

We started with family style pupus (appetizers). I just love fried calamari, my hubs calls it bait, but I call it delish!

Tidepools fried calamari

We also had the lump crab cake. Ooh this has always been one of my faves and each time they change the menu I’m so glad they don’t change this! Big chunks and lumps of crab meat not too much filler.

Crab Cake

This was a new one on the menu and I was excited to try it. Hamachi sashimi with watermelon and topped with jalapenos. YUM-O!!
Hamachi, or yellowtail, is family to Ahi, but it is a higher grade fish for sashimi or sushi. It’s a lighter meat and very mild tasting.

Hamachi sashimi with watermelon

For dinner I chose the Opah. Grilled not gangnam style. It’s a very mild fish also known as the moon fish. Of course the men all ordered the prime rib, which my husband ranks as number one on the island!

Opah

We had a gorgeous dessert platter of bread pudding, crème Brule and a chocolate mousse bomb… and yup everything was THE BOMB!

desserts

I think everyone had way too much to eat, because after dinner everyone just went back to their rooms to rest. In the morning we woke up to this beautiful view.

Yup, luck I live Kauai. (am I making ya’ll jealous?)

Grand Hyatt Poipu

I enjoyed a cup of coffee on the lanai and ate some chocolate covered dried pineapples for breakfast before meeting up with my friend who watched my son for us so we could have a night out. We picked up the lil guy and then came back to the hotel so he could play for a little bit.

THANK YOU MIKI! We totally owe you!

First things, first…. chocolate ice cream shake for the lil man!

chocolate shake

Of course then we had to have lunch pool side.

pool cabana

He played in the pool for a little bit.

And before long… he was out cold!

naptime

It’s days like this that remind me we live in such a beautiful place and I need to take more time to enjoy it and enjoy my lil man especially since he’ll have to share my attention very soon.

I am blessed to work for a great company and have a wonderful Christmas party and wonderful friends who will take my son for the night so mom and dad can have a date.

I just had to share this especially after my little rant yesterday.

It’s all good!

whats on my wish list?

Note: I started this post well before Christmas and never got around to finishing it, but I updated it at the end for a nice surprise finish.

Ya Know, just in case you were wondering or Santa was reading….

Actually some of these are on my wish list, but some of them I have stumbled across and thought would make a good gift.

Like Yankee Candle’s Sampler Votive Gift Book.

56814-gift-set-md

Wouldn’t that be great for the candle lover!

I personally have never tried these but how good do they look? And who doesn’t need lip balm? Anyone want to put an EOS Lip Balm in my stocking is more than welcome to!

img_sphere_hon

For the baker that you know, who doesn’t love the look of a domed cake plate with desserts in the kitchen?! Of course this one is from Williams Sonoma and is more than I would pay, but you can even get them at Wal-Mart. I would recommend filling it up with something first *wink*

img10b

This one is always on my wish list. I can’t bring myself to buying one or having my hubby buy one, but one of these days… it will be mine! What is it about a pretty colored Kitchen Aid Mixer?

kitchen aid mixer

These are just a few things that I wouldn’t buy for myself but would be nice to have or give as a gift.

In reality all I really want is for our bills to be paid, my grandmother to be on her way to recovery, my dad to stop the horrible cycle of drinking, for me and my lil guy’s cold to go away (I’m going on week number 3 thank you very much!!) and my hubby to finally listen to what I’m trying to tell him and HELP ME!!!!

Update starts here….

Well today is the day after Christmas and I survived, barely, but I did.

Working long days and then visiting with my grandmother in the hospital after picking my son up from school, and then going home to cook dinner proved to be more than I could do especially when you throw Christmas shopping in the mix. I very quickly lost the holiday cheer and really just wanted the holiday to be over with. I also have to mention that I am still sick! Going on 4 weeks now!! Let’s also add that my son came down with a sinus infection and because of his post nasal drip has been throwing up every night all week long! Then because of his antibiotics he had the runs for 2 days! God was with me, let me tell you.

I was frustrated with everything, mad at the world and taking it out on my family. I was at my breaking point and when my hubby says he’s going to ride bike with his friends 2 days before Christmas instead of helping me prepare for Christmas like I had been begging him to for the last 2 weeks I well, for lack of a better word, went ape shit.

To be honest we’re still not back to normal and he’s still sleeping on the couch. But if he has time to go shopping on his lunch break at the fishing supply store and the motorbike store AND spend $250 on a new pole blank for himself and then have absolutely nothing for his wife and son at Christmas because he ‘doesn’t have money or the time to shop’ this hormonal witch is standing her ground!

Thankfully my mom came over on Sunday and while my son and I were napping and cleaned up my kitchen and cooked dinner for us. What are mom’s for! Even though she makes me crazy she really does know exactly when I need her the most. I woke up to find her in my kitchen and the hubs sitting on the couch watching TV. Needless to say I blew a gasket!

I nearly did not make it to my in laws on Christmas day but I did and was surprised with….

image

A beautiful expresso Kitchen Aid Mixer! Yea Baby! Thank you mom Sheila!

We did have a nice late lunch/early dinner of prime rib and lobster. The lil bun in the oven kept me from eating as much as I wanted to. My son got to the point where he just wanted to go home so we did and ended the night early. It was nice to get some rest.

And then morning came, and we had to get up for work and school and get back to reality. It was actually really nice to get back to reality. Until next year….

So very grateful…

With everything that has been going on in my life recently I need to focus on what truly great things I have to be grateful for.

I know my last post was a bit grouchy. I am having a hard time feeling the pressure of the season and Christmas quickly creeping up on us, but other than that I really truly am grateful for many things.

I thank God that my grandmother is still with us. On November 30th we were told she would not make it through the night and today she is still with us. It has been rough working 9 hour days, picking up my 3 year old and bringing him with me to the hospital every afternoon to visit and check on her. Then go home and get dinner ready and my son bathed. But the fact that she is still with us and getting stronger everyday is a miracle. Do I get worn out running around you bet, but I am just thankful for her.

I thank God for my amazing friend Miki who always unselfishly jumps in and helps us out in a bind when it come to my son. She had come to our rescue so many times in the past and this past weekend was no exception. We had our company Christmas party which includes dinner at an amazing restaurant (I’ll have to tell you about that in another post!!) and a room at the Grand Hyatt. It’s like our mini getaway once a year. At the last minute we lost our sitter and Miki was wonderful and took my son for the night. My hubs and I got to enjoy a wonderful dinner and night all to ourselves that never happens.

I’m grateful for my friends who are always there to listen when I’m having a hard time and just need someone to talk to. I’m very lucky to have a few friends that listen without judgment and to have friends who are there for me without keeping score and don’t require something in return. That’s true friends.

I am grateful for a job and although the end of the year is always stressful and being 31 weeks pregnant I struggle to be normal, I still have a job for a lot of people don’t.

I also write this because today 2 days before Christmas my husband decides to go ride trails with his friends rather than helping with crunch time and I need to focus on good or I’ll probably loose my mind and leave his things in the garage.

Well, with that being said, I’m off to clean the breakfast dishes so that I can do my baking. I hope it’s a productive day!

What ever happened to Christmas being the most wonderful time of the year??

I know that I have admitted in the past that I am a Christmas Grinch. I have been changing my ways, I really have.

Even though it was like pulling teeth and I would rather have pulled my teeth out than have to nag at my hubby to spend 5 minutes to take some of our Christmas decorations out of the attic, I had a fun time with my lil man putting out decorations.

christmas countdown

We didn’t take down all the decorations this year only one box and no lights on the house this year either. All I can think about it having to spend the time taking them down and packing them away just weeks before the baby is due.

I even did my best at keeping my OCD in check and I let my son decorate the tree with very little help. I sometimes sit on my couch and look at the tree and see two ornaments hanging too close to each other and I want to move them so bad, but I let it go. I’m so proud of myself.

christmas tree

Still all I can think is, what is so damn jolly about this time of the year?

I don’t know if it’s the hormones, or exhaustion, or stress, or all of it put together but I just want to skip the holidays all together!

Everything is rush rush and its so commercialized, how do we get back to the real meaning of the season?

I’ve been so busy at work and then going to the hospital to visit my grandma every day after work and then rushing home to cook dinner and do our night time routine and then do it all over again! I have had NO time or energy to do my Christmas shopping. This is the last weekend before Christmas and instead of helping out my hubs is going to ride with his friends, just great, thanks! I told my hubs from last week, I need his help with the shopping and well… I won’t even go there.

So this year, we’re not doing Christmas… if I get the chance to do my baking, I will, if not, oh well.

I don’t even feel bad for not having anything ready or having the time or energy to put into Christmas, is that bad??

How about you guys? Are ya’ll ready for Christmas?

What to do??

I originally started my post for this morning about my busy but wonderful weekend and how thankful I am for a very special friend.

Then I read this article… “I am Adam Lanza’s mother

It is worth the few minutes to read it. I really hope and pray that these mother’s and children can find the help that they desperately need.

Baby Update: 29 Weeks

Wow time is sure flying by, I can’t believe I’m at 29 weeks already! Baby will be here before we know it!

29 weeks

How far along? 29 weeks 4 days (as of today)

Total weight gain: somewhere between 15-20 lbs

Maternity clothes? My bottoms are definitely maternity but I just wear baggy or stretchy tops

Stretch marks? Thank God not yet

Sleep: Just seems like its never enough. Then again I’ve been battling a cold for 2 weeks and we’ve been running back and forth to the hospital to visit my grandma so I am more worn out than usual

Best moment this week: ??

Miss Anything? Being able to walk up a flight of stairs without being out of breath, being able to carry my lil man, a couple glasses of wine with friends, being able to work in the yard, seems like just normal stuff.

Movement: Not as active as my son was but when baby is in the mood, man I get a good kickin’

Food cravings: nothing in particular and I’ve stopped living on junk food, desserts and hagen daz

Anything making you queasy or sick: only brushing my teeth in the morning

Gender: well…. I still haven’t announced it

Labor Signs: except for our little adventure in the hospital, nothing thank God.

Belly Button (in or out): still in but open pretty wide! LOL

Wedding Rings (on or off): off, but then I normally don’t wear my wedding rings.

Symptoms: my feet are getting swollen! With my son my feet only got swollen about 2 weeks before I gave birth, now if I’m on my feet too long or even sitting for too long they get swollen. I also notice that if I stand for too long, it feels very heavy down there, yup down there and I have to sit.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Still very MOODY!

Looking forward to: Getting the baby’s room cleaned and set up and also meeting the newest addition! I know we have a ways to go but we’re so excited and I’m ready to not be pregnant.

Prayers needed because miracles do happen…

It’s been quite a hard past 2 weeks.

It was Sunday and I woke up with a sore throat and just feeling like I got hit by a bus, and then dragged. Within 2 days I had a full blown cold.

Being sick while you’re pregnant sucks, one you can’t take any medication to relieve your symptoms and two, at 7 months pregnant every time I would cough I’d pee myself. Yup! I went there.

At the same time my dad and grandma were sick too. They had it pretty bad, my grandma, really bad.

Being the stubborn lady she is, she refused to let my dad take her to the doctors. Finally on Friday my dad threatened to call the ambulance and so she finally agreed to let my dad take her. He rushed her to the ER about 5 minutes away and by the time they got there she had collapsed and stopped breathing.

He called me upset and let me know what was going on. Thankfully my girlfriend works there and she let me know it was urgent and I needed to get there asap.

We gathered at the ER that night and the doctors told us she was in really bad shape and she wouldn’t make it through the night. She had really bad pneumonia a lot of fluid in her lungs and chest cavity and she had already stopped breathing and was being assisted with a ventilator. I spent the night with my dad camped out in the living room hoping not to hear the phone ring.

The next morning we got up and he went to the hospital to check on what was going on. They evaluated her and told us her kidneys were failing and she wasn’t doing well at all. We called some of the family and made arrangements for the priest to go and give her last rites.

The following morning they took her for a scan and surprisingly she had improved. Her kidneys were fine and had no permanent damage as well as her brain had not suffered any damage from lack of oxygen. She was still badly congested and was on the ventilator and they couldn’t say which way things would go.

We all prayed for her and the first night in the ER, my dad says, she’s gonna need a miracle. Thank you Lord, he had one for her. Not to mention she’s a fighter! As of today she is doing tons better. The congestion is clearing, she has been breathing on her own for a few days now and is conscious.

She still has some ways to go to recover, but as for us, we have already received our Christmas Miracle this year. Thank you everyone who prayed for her and for us.

A Happy Thanksgiving

Can you believe Thanksgiving has come and gone!? Time is just flying by.

This year we barely got our turkey! I’m fine with that I’m more into all the trimmings anyway and a ham, yum. My husband on the other hand was not happy about the possibility of not having turkey.

I didn’t have room in my fridge or chest freezer so I decided to wait until the last minute to get a turkey. Not a good idea! All the grocery stores on our side of the island were completely sold out by Monday before Thanksgiving.

We work in town so I went to the one and only grocery store there and they were also all out. My husband’s co-worker told him that he had to drive clear to the other side of the island to get a turkey!

I totally lucked out and stopped at Costco, who had sold out of their turkeys the day before and somehow they found the one and only turkey left in their store. YAY! SCORE!

I got up early on my day off (ugghhhh) and took our turkey out of the brine, dried it off and slathered it with butter and bacon, yup… bacon.

turkey bacon

My little man insisted on helping out so I let him think he was chopping the parsley for the stuffing. He was the happiest lil guy ever.

food prep

Of course I made my favorite dressing, my grandma’s recipe. Each year that I make it, it gets better and better.

stuffing

And to top it off, my lil man also insisted on washing the dishes!

I SO LOVE HIM!

He did a great job and kept asking, “what can I help you with next mom?”

dishwasher

We had a yummy lunch of course followed by a little nap.

thanksgiving meal

But not before we had chocolate cake and pumpkin pie!

pumpkin pie

I may have over done it just a tad, I had no ankles for two days!!!

swollen feet

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!!!

Almost down for the count!

So, yes, just as I’m getting back into the swing of things, I get knocked back down!

Two weeks ago, I stop into GNC with my dad and son to pick up some vitamins and supplements for them.

When we’re checking out the boys behind the counter (I say boys because they were obviously younger than me) suggestive sold me some Papaya Enzyme. They said it’s great for your digestive system. Well, gullible me I’m thinking… hmmm I could use a healthy digestive system especially with the pregnancy and prenatal vitamins. Let’s be honest, if you’ve been pregnant you know how backed up you can get!

Long story short I ended up in the hospital with preterm labor just 2 days later.

fetal monitoring

Just a day short of 25 weeks this was not a good time to go into labor.

We spent several hours in labor and delivery but had the greatest nurses to keep me calm and rested and hydrated. Not to mention starved all I could eat was jello… and lucky me they only had this flavor and I’m allergic to red food coloring.

jello

After 2 doses of meds they stopped the contractions but I was still having some pain and cramping.

They sent me home on bed rest for a week. I thought that was going to be the longest week ever but I was so sore that I literally stayed in bed for the first 2 days miserable.

bed rest

Besides the tv this was my view.

I began to realize that I was quite gassy and hmmm… smelling of papayas!

I stopped taking the papaya enzyme immediately and by Saturday I was feeling tons better. I Googled papaya enzyme and low and behold one of the possible side effects is gas pains, cramping and preterm labor!

I went to my dr’s for a check up a few days later and yup, I got scolded!

Taking the papaya enzyme while pregnant is a big NO NO! Which is interesting since I know 2 women who have taken papaya enzyme during their pregnancy.

Well its been almost 2 weeks since the little incident and I’m back to normal. No more supplements for me for the rest of this pregnancy!

Which reminds me, it’s definitely time for a baby bump update!

Stay tuned guys

Beginnings of a Big Boy Room

So with baby number 2 on the way, I’ve got to get in gear and get working on my son’s big boy room.

When we asked him a long time ago, he said he wanted a room with blue walls and white curtains, I think I might watch too much HGTV with him around.

Currently, this room is being used as a junk room, kind of a catch all where we put things we don’t know what to do with or need somewhere to get it out of the way. It also serves as a guest room so whenever we have guests the junk in the room gets pushed into the closet and cleaned.

I have been just too exhausted to move the big stuff in the room, but I found a few spare hours so I started painting his room.

boy room paint

And this is the color that he picked out. I can’t remember what the name of the color is but I got it from Sherwin Williams and it’s a $5 can of sample paint, I think I am going to have just enough to do what I need to to with just that a $5 sample size of paint!

boy's room paint

I have a habit of painting around furniture if its in my way.

This is just the beginning and I’ll give you all the details when the room actually starts to take shape.

chalk paint

Meanwhile, daddy finished priming the back patio and started to paint it grey to match the house. My son had to join in the painting as well, so luckily we had this sidewalk chalk paint for him to play with.

He loved it and it kept him busy. Looks like I’ll have to diy more paint!

sidewalk chalk

Stay tuned for updates on the big boy room.

Just keep in mind, I’m moving at a snail’s pace!

20 Week Update

I know I owe ya’ll an update, last update was oh at 16 weeks when I told ya’ll about my big announcement.

Yes, we have found out the sex and I just haven’t come up with a fun way to tell you guys!

We’ll here I am at 20 weeks.

20 weeks

I thought my loose fitting shirt wasn’t a great picture so I changed into a more fitting tank so you can see the bump. (and you can definitely see those bags under my eyes too)

20 weeks pregnancy

Ok so here’s the stats…

This week, Baby is the size of a: Banana according to babycenter.com and is about 10 1/2 oz and 6 1/2” long.

How far along? 20 weeks

Due date: February 21, 2013

Total weight gain/loss: at my last appointment on 10/18 I was surprised to hear I had gained only 2 lbs. Yesterday I had to go in to check on some bleeding and I jumped up 5 lbs! So I’m at a total of 7 lbs.

Maternity clothes? I have them but haven’t been using them just yet, I can still get by with my regular jeans just not buttoned, you know ya’ll have used the rubber band trick right!

Sleep: Not as much as I would like to get. A nap would be nice haha. I’m sleeping ok, some nights getting up either once to walk off a leg cramp or to pee.

Best moment this week: Getting to see my lil one on an ultrasound, it was a little unexpected. I didn’t have an appointment but had to go in to get checked so it was nice to get to see an ultrasound. Doctor says we have a modest baby.

Movement: Not as much as with my son or it could be too early to really compare. Feeling tiny little bumps and pops mostly during the day and not too much at night.

Food cravings: Desserts! This past week I’ve had chocolate pie, Oreo McFlurry, what else… maybe that’s why the scales tipped 5 more lbs this past doctor’s visit!

Symptoms: Thankfully the morning sickness has slowly but surely gone away. I am getting better with that thing they call…hmmm… patience? LOL

Gender: What do you guys think?? Any ideas on how I should tell ya’ll??

Labor Signs: Nope, and because of my check up yesterday, I know for sure that I am not dilating or effacing. That is one feeling I could have done without till the day I went into labor!

Belly Button in or out? still in

Feeling toward Pregnancy: Now that I am feeling better, I am getting excited and anxious about all the things I want done before the baby comes. I’m having mixed emotions about bringing another child into the mix and feeling nostalgic about my first born baby. Thankfully talking to other mothers I guess the things I’m feeling are pretty normal.

What I miss: Not feeling bloated!

What I am looking forward to: Getting my son’s big boy room ready for him to move into and then getting the nursery ready.

Milestones: Half way through baby!! I don’t know if that makes me more excited or more anxious. I’m also feeling very relieved to find out my placenta has gone into the right place. At an earlier appointment the doctor showed concern for a very low placenta, then I had bleeding the other night but the last two checks and ultra sounds show that my placenta is in the right place and I do not have placenta previa. I do have what they call a friable cervix so it can get injured easily.

I cant believe I just talked bleeding, placenta and cervix on my blog!! Yikes!

We’ll there it is I can’t believe the countdown will begin soon since we’ve hit the halfway mark!

Thrifty score!!

It’s been a while since I’ve been thrifting and I made a quick stop into the Salvation Army the other day.

Good thing I did I scored all these vases for $4.00

vase

Please do not mind my sandal in the background, I threw them on the floor when I left the store and took a quick photo.

I’m thinking of using them for an upcoming party.

TV Time

Do you let your kids watch tv?
Let me tell you in the beginning of this pregnancy, TV saved me!!
I’ve always tried to be very careful what my son watches. He loves PBS kids and Disney, in fact his newest fav is Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue. (of course the hubs wasn’t thrilled… haha)
Tinker-Bell-and-the-Great-Fairy-Rescue
via google
In the afternoons he enjoys his Sid the Science Kid, Sesame Street, Ni Hao Kai Lan and Word Girl.
He does get to watch the occasional Phineas & Ferb although I see no educational point to the show whatsoever.
Phineas-Ferb-soundtrack-cov
I sometimes feel guilty about putting my son in front of the tv while I do something else but how else am I gonna get the dishes put away the kitchen cleaned and dinner cooked.
When I was struggling through morning sickness I would get home in the afternoons and turn on a movie and throw myself on the couch and let the TV watch my son until my husband came home. I felt guilty but it was the only way I could survive! Not even my zofran could help!
I saw this article on Baby Center today on What to Watch. Yay for most of my son’s favorite shows being on the list!!
I still do believe in going outside and playing instead of being glued to the tv but when I need a quick, easy and cheap baby sitter PBS kids has been there for me! haha
And yup, I know I owe ya’ll an update on the pregnancy, it’s coming.
Nothing fancy but its coming.

And here’s an update on my lime tree… did you see my post on instagram?

I thought it would take about 6 months before we got any limes, I think it just might be sooner!!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

So, about that big news I had....

Remember we went on vacation?

Well, apparently what happens in Cabo, doesn't stay in Cabo!

I guess, I kinda have had an excuse for my major absence I've been having... I've kinda been, uh well, busy not feeling so well...

How far along? 16 Weeks

Baby’s Size: 4 1/2" long (acording to babycenter.com)
Heartbeat: we got to hear the heartbeat at the last dr apt a few weeks ago and it was at 140 bpm. We also brought our son with us and he was THRILLED to hear his baby's heartbeat and see the baby on the ultrasound.

Weight Gain:  at my last appointment 1.5 lbs since going on my scale about 3 lbs (but feels like 20!)

Bellybutton: in
Maternity Clothes: not yet
Mood: terrible! I've been so short tempered I feel so sorry for my husband and son!
I'll be sure to make it up to them as soon as I feel better!
I cannot stand heat at all! I have not even flat ironed my hair in months!
And to add misery to pain, my ac in my car went out and we had MAJOR problems getting the correct parts in to fix it! Let's just say I've been miserable!

Names: We can't agree on anything yet, but we have agreed to wait to seriously talk about it until next Tuesday

Gender: We'll find out next Tuesday!

Movement: not yet but I feel a lot of stretching going on

Sleep: Not that great and I could use a lot more! Some nights I get up to pee, a few time I woke up with leg cramps, but I started stretching before bed and so far it's made a big difference. I toss and turn a lot, seems like I just can't get comfortable and it's been so hot!!
Symptoms: Oh gosh! I have been so sick! It's slowly getting better but I still get sick and I'm really tired.
Food Adversions: for a while I could not eat roast chicken, I still cannot eat Rasin Bran, anything too oily or with lots of tomato sauce give me really bad heart burn

Food Cravings: pastries, pies, sweet dessert kind of cereal like cinnamon toast crunch, this past weekend it was sweet pickles.
This is all new to me since with my son all I craved was pastele and pinacbet.
What I am Looking forward to: having our level 2 ultra sound, finding out everything is ok and finding out the sex!!
So there it is!
I am slowly feeling better so getting back to kinda normal life.
I am starting to feel stressed out to get a bunch of our home projects checked off the list before the baby comes.
Number one being, getting my son's big boy room ready so we can move him over and use his room as the baby's room since it's across the hall from us.
Oh and one last thing... my mother in law has banned us from going on any more family vacations. My brother in law and his girl friend are due 4 days before us!

Loco Moco

It's lazy man Loco Moco's for dinner tonight!

Lazy because instead of making hamburger patties, I just cooked the hamburger and added the gravy to the mix.
Daddy got his eggs scrambled, Talon got his plain and had two servings and mommy had eggs over easy with melted cheese on top and some hot sauce!

DELISH!
I'm done... good night ya'll

Shower Caddy

Have you ever given much thought to your shower caddy? It’s always been a must in my shower and it’s always bothered me. Not to the point where it nags at my brain and I obsess over it, but the design just never seemed right to me.

Here are my thoughts:

First of all, I enjoy one of those shower heads, you know the handheld ones and I like mine extra long too so you can bathe a baby in the tub as well. But the tube thingie (very technical word there) that attaches to he head and the wall, always gets in the way when you have a shower caddy!

Secondly that little bit of post-drip (another really technical term) that happens when you turn the shower off always gets my soap all wet and mushy over time and it drips soap residue down the side of my shower wall. Makes me nuts!

What is a girl to do?!

Im not into the floor to ceiling type of caddy like this one for some reason, it doesn’t seem sturdy enough and I’d be the first to stub my toe on it and make it come crashing down.

Then of course the fab Allison over at the House of Hepworths pinned this…

You guys have to click it to see!! I’m not giving it away!

I saw it and was like, DUH!

Why wouldn’t it work?

Genius!

So, following her advise, now I have this….

shower caddy1a

I don’t bang my arms against my shower caddy when I shampoo my hair, my soap doesn’t get all mushy, I don’t have soapy runny stains down the shower and on my shower faucet and I can finally look at getting one of those shower heads.

We totally used that tip and look, here is our shower caddy, still close and convenient, just across the shower on the other wall!

shower caddy2a

You wouldn’t believe how hard it was to find a darn hook!

Kmart, none… Walmart… none, Home Depot… not the right size either!

Finally found just the right one at Ace Hardware.

shower caddy4a

I can’t believe what an easy fix it was. And it was rejuvenating for me since its been a while since I did any kind of project.

shower caddy3a

Its been about a week since we moved the caddy to the opposite wall of the shower and I really do like it, sometimes it’s the easiest fix that makes the biggest difference.

Thanks guys for sticking around… things are changing around here and I’ve got a few posts getting ready to go…. Big Announcement coming up as well!
