So several months ago I posted about a buffet I bought from Craigslist here.
I have been dying to finish this project and after what seems like eternity its finally DONE!
What took forever, besides finding time to work on it, was the buffet had one missing piece from the drawer pull. I searched and searched for a matching replacement and just couldnt find one. I didnt want to replace all of them because I thought the orignal ones were so beautiful. I finally ended up with something I liked but didnt really match so I moved the mismatched ones to the drawers on the sides.
This is the pair I picked out for the two outside drawers. Heavy duty cast iron and puuurdy. Doesnt match but I'll see how long I can block out my OCD.
Here are the ones that came with the buffet. I had taken the before, during and after pix when I painted them, but I cant find it? Did I upload them? Did I delete them from my camera? Oh well Im too ansty to post this Im not looking. So Here are the drawer pulls after I cleaned them with acid and spray painted them black. Now that they're on, I think I want to paint them brushed nickel.

So on to my hard work. I took appart the buffet, removed the hardware and glued all the loose pieces.
Sanded it down, which wasnt as bad as I thought it was gonna be.
My son even jumped right in there and helped. Well atleast he thought he was helping with that Snap On water gun.
Then came the primer, and I have to agree with every blogger out there that recommends Killz, it was so easy to work with.
Then came the white paint.... EEEEKKK!!! I know I know it was such a beautiful piece and the wood was gorgeous, but it just wouldnt go in my bedroom with my dark brown walls. Dont worry its just paint, it comes off!
Then I took to my mentor's tutorial (Thanks Brooke from All Things Thrifty)
She has great tips on painting furniture and glazing, some amazing makeovers come out of her garage! And BTW, its her birthday this Friday, go check her out and send her some Bday wishes.
I brushed on a black stain because our home depot didnt have glazing and it worked just fine for my pix frame redo. I love the detials on this and really wanted that part to stand out. After just a moment I wiped it off and look how the detail pops out now:
I glazed the entire buffet, put the hardware back on and moved it into my bedroom where it is now my dresser. So ok, ok, enough with the talking her it is. Please pardon the pix, they were taken at like 11pm last night and I didnt have my good camera. Lighting is pretty bad but oh well... here it is:
Now that its in my room and Im using it, I think I will repaint the drawer pulls a brushed nickel, unless anyone of you have a better idea???
Im so happy to FINALLY have this piece in my room. I should have posted pix of the before, I had piles of stuff just leaning against the wall, ugh so much nicer now. What do you think?

Your buffet looks awesome! I like the black pulls; I'd leave them as they are. Your son is a cutie, too. I bet he's a bigger helper.

Really beautiful! Love the idea of adding a black stain. I have an old buffet dresser in my bedroom, I want to paint another color and use in my living room. This truly inspired me! :)
